This not only gave individuals the ability to patent the inventions that they came up with, it also offered them some incentive for taking the initiative to develop them. In this way, Thomas Jefferson influenced a lot of the inventions that have taken place since his time. One of the more notable Jefferson inventions is that of a plow. Thomas Jefferson lived in a farming area and he and his family were involved in farming as well. They were dealing with a problem with soil erosion that that time because of the type of plows that were in existence, along with the land that existed in the Virginia area where he was from. That is why one of the inventions of Thomas Jefferson had to do with a plow which would allow for hillside plowing without much of the erosion that is usually found through the process. Security was an issue during this time, as it continues to be an issue today. There have always been inventions that involve the use of various devices in order to encode messages of importance. By containing the letters of the alphabet on the cipher, an individual was able to produce coded messages and then to scramble them.
