Carburetor Maybach Inventions

Although many individuals credit Henry Ford with the invention of the automobile, the fact of the matter is that the concept had been thought of as far back as Leonardo da Vinci. During the 19th century, there were also some inventors who became interested in the internal combustion engine although not necessarily for use in an automobile at first. In order to make this entire thing run, an inventor by the name of Wilhelm Maybach was called on in order to help develop a part of the engine which is still in use today. This became one of the more famous Carburetor Maybach inventions that took place.

Maybach himself was a partner of a German man named, Gottlieb Daimler and together they developed an internal combustion engine which was used in a variety of different applications. As a matter of fact, this internal combustion engine was eventually used in an automobile that came about in 1902, the Mercedes. Although the company changed hands throughout the years, Maybach's influence continued to be felt and even as recently as this century, several luxury cars carry his name.

The Carburetor Maybach invention is among some of the most significant and really helped to push the development of the internal combustion engine forward. What many people weren't aware of is the fact that carburetors had been in existence for many years before Maybach developed his prototype.

Eventually, this carburetor along with the small engines that it powered was used in order to develop the first motorcycle, which was driven across Germany from Cannstatt to Untertürkheim, reaching a speed of some 7.5 mph. In 1886, the engine was inserted into a stagecoach, although the engine was improved upon and also enlarged. Interestingly enough, this early engine was known as the grandfather clock engine because of the series of gears that it included.

The carburetor is not used today in many automobiles as fuel injection systems have really taken over. For well over a hundred years, however, these Carburetor Maybach inventions continued to drive the automobiles which got us from here to there.
