Ancient Egypt Inventions
When most people think about ancient Egypt, they think about such things as the pyramids or perhaps mummified corpses. These things aside, there are actually some ancient Egypt inventions that are quite noteworthy. Among these include some of the architectural designs and developments that occurred during this time, several thousand years ago. A look at some of these ancient Egyptian inventions will let you know that they were a creative and resourceful group of people. One of the ancient Egypt inventions that we take for granted nowadays is the calendar that lasted for 365 days and even included a leap year. One thing's for certain, this was a group of people that were interested in the heavens and the world that they lived in, more for religious reasons than for those that are scientific. That being said, the fact that they were able to ascertain that there were actually 365 days in the year is a pretty amazing feat. Most of the calendars during that time were based on a lunar cycle, not for an annual revolution of the earth around the sun. Another of the ancient Egyptian inventions that still is used in some form in modern times is that of paper. Many of the cultures that were in existence at the same time still used slate or perhaps other instruments in order to do the writing. The paper that the Egyptians used was made from papyrus and it was quite durable. The pyramids themselves bring about a number of different ancient Egyptian inventions that need to be taken into consideration. First of all, they were among the first triangular shaped pyramids that were in existence and that were built by a system of organized labor that was unheard of before this time. The pyramids themselves are an amazing archaeological feat and required not only the use of complex mathematical equations but also a very systematic way of putting them all into place. There are also other ancient Egyptian inventions that are known, such as the first known instance of black ink. It is also thought that this is where the ox drawn plow came into existence as well. Many of the ancient Egypt inventions came about as a result of their religious studies but they were also a very strong world power at that time so it was necessary to continue to develop new things in order to keep their military advantage. Many of the things that the ancient Egyptians did continue to be a mystery to this day but with further archaeological studies, our knowledge of this culture will continue to grow.
