Alternate Energy Inventions

Throughout history, people always been looking for different forms of alternate energy inventions. Even before the use of electricity and before gasoline powered vehicles, these inventions were coming into play. Many of them were quite innovative but some of the more interesting alternative energy sources and inventions have come about within the past century. The reason why this is the case is because we are more dependent now on energy than at any other time during human history.

Before we get into some of the alternate energy inventions that are put in use today, let us take a look at some of the ingenious ideas that have been thought up there in the past century and then suppressed by those who were in the business of supplying us with the energy that we need. These include such ideas as how to run a car on water to how to convert trash and old tires into usable energy. Unfortunately, many of these ideas were shut down before they ever came to fruition. If they were ever allowed to truly follow through on the work that they started, these may be some of the greatest alternative energy sources and inventions that ever came to light.

One of the alternative energy inventions that gained in popularity during the 1970s. This was solar power and although it never really took off like it was thought that it was going to, the principles behind it are rather solid. The light that comes from the sun enters into a photocell where it is converted into usable energy. Some of this energy can be stored rather easily, both to be used overnight and in cases where the sun may not be out for several days at a time. Most individuals that got involved in solar energy did not necessarily do so as a way of replacing the electricity that they were using. This was simply one of the alternate energy inventions that would reduce the amount of electricity that we needed by replacing some of it with free sources.

Another interesting form of alternative energy sources and inventions comes in the way of geothermal energy. A man by the name of Prince Piero Ginori Conti was interested in this form of alternative energy and he proved that it could be used as a way to give us some of the power that we needed. Although it was never widely used in the United States, Italy has used geothermal energy extensively in the past century.

As we continue to have a difficulty in finding reliable energy sources that will be around for the long term, these alternative energy inventions will no doubt continue to surface. It is hard to tell whenever one of these sources will provide us with the energy that we need and free our dependence on the current energy sources.
