1950 Inventions, 1960s Inventions & 1970s Inventions
Beginning with the second half of the 20th century, the development of new ideas really began to take on a new shape. There are some notable 1950s inventions that came about on the heels of the second world war. 1960s inventions also saw a lot of development in the technological age as did many of the 1970s inventions that are now a part of history. Let's take a look at these three decades and see what they had offered to us.
Of all of the 50s inventions that came into existence, there were some that really helped to shape the world for many years to come. For example, the first credit card was developed in 1950 as well as oral contraceptives, the solar cell, optic fiber and a pacemaker. Several 1951 inventions are rather notable among the group, however. These include superglue, power steering and a video tape recorder. Although most of us use DVDs in our home now, the VCR had its roots during this year. There are also some notable 1958 inventions as well. This is the year that the hula hoop and the laser were both invented. Something that almost all of us have in our home now, the modem, was also one of the 1958 inventions that is notable. The 1960s inventions continued to build on the ingenious ideas that were being thought up on a regular basis. For example, the audio cassette came about in 1962 and for many years allowed people to record things at home and to listen to music easily. Valium was also introduced during 1961. Although the middle of the decade did not really see many inventions come to light, one of the notable 1966 inventions is electronic fuel injection. This replaced the

in almost all automobiles within a few short decades. Most of the 1968 inventions had to do with the computer as this was the year that the mouse was invented as well as computer memory. The 1970 1979 inventions are also rather ingenious. A lot of the 1970 inventions had to do with a computers and electronics. For example, things such as the floppy disk, LCD, VCRs, the microprocessor, ethernet and the laser printer all came about during this decade. Some of the 1970s inventions that did not have to do with technology include the Post-it note and roller blades. It was also during this decade that the cell phone came into existence and how many of us can live without this device today? These 30 years from 1950 to 1980 really helped to shape the world in a profound way. The technological advances that came about during the second half of these three decades pushes forward into a new era in which we are still living today.
