1900 Inventions

The 20th century is really not that far in our distant past but the fact of the matter is, very few people are around to remember the beginning of that century. During the first two decades of the 20th century, there were some notable inventions that came into existence. These 1900 inventions help to shape the way the century would turn out. Let's take a look at those that happened at the very beginning of the century as well as looking at the 1910-1919 inventions as these were some of the more interesting of the time period.

Sometimes, inventions come and go but they still shape the world around us even if they had not been used for many years. A good example of this is one of the 1900 inventions that is known as the zeppelin. Very few people even realize the fact that the zeppelin is a type of hot air balloon that was propelled. It was thought that this was going to revolutionize air travel and even the Empire State building was built with zeppelin mooring rods in place. Eventually, the zeppelin faded out of existence and it is not used at all today.

The second decade of the 1900s proved to be very interesting as far as inventions are concerned. As a matter of fact, there were some notable 1910-1919 inventions that really need to be brought to light. For example, Thomas Edison came up with the first talking motion picture and really, where would we be without this invention? Lifesavers candy came into existence in 1912 and just a year later, the zipper and the crossword puzzle were patented. It was also during this year that the bra came into existence.

1919 inventions in the US were also very interesting. When was the last time you used a pop-up toaster? Prior to this year, there were none that were in existence. Short wave radio also came about during this year and it really shaped the way that communication was taking place over long distances for many years. There are still plenty of people who enjoy using the short wave radio, even today. One of the other notable 1919 inventions in the US is the arc welder.

Although it only ended a short time ago, the 20th century was one that produced many of the inventions that we are still using today. It all had its humble beginning, however, with some of these amazing inventions that we just discussed.
