1800 Inventions

The 19th century saw a lot of growth as far as developments, both in technology and in luxury. As a matter of fact, there are some notable 1800 inventions that we simply could not live as easily without. Let's take a look at some of the 18 hundredths inventions, as well as 1820s inventions and specifically 1824 inventions. You will find that these were the years in which a lot of the growth happened to take place.

The 1800 inventions included such things as the jacquard loom. Being within the industrial revolution, the jacquard loom was developed in order to help businesses to weave using complex designs. Although it was possible to do this before, this particular loom automated the process and really helped to speed things along at the factory. This particular loom used a series of punch cards that were later modified and became some of the first computer punch cards. The first battery was also developed during this time. Although the battery had been thought up by Benjamin Franklin almost 50 years before, this was the first wet cell battery in existence. What would we do today without this example of 1800's inventions?

Most of us are familiar with the term Macintosh but we tend to apply it more to a computer system than to what it meant in the 19th century. A man by the name of Charles Macintosh invented a raincoat during that time with the same name. The electromagnet was also invented and these are just a sampling of some of the 1820s inventions that are in existence. For example, practical things such as the typewriter, matches and a microphone all had their start during this decade.

The 1824 inventions were rather interesting and they are things that are still in use today. For example, the toy balloon came into existence in 1824 as did the patent for Portland cement. Portland cement is not really one of the 1824 inventions as it was even used back in Rome some 2000 years ago. The fact of the matter is, however, a man by the name of Joseph Aspdin took the time to patent it during this year.
