Time Line of Inventions

All throughout history, inventions have really shaped the way our lives are lived. Some of these were really only good for a certain period of time but many of them also influence some of the modern day conveniences that we enjoy. Looking at a simple time line will show you that there has always been creativity that is evident in some individuals. Not only that, it also gives us hope that those individuals to come up with these ideas will continue to display their creativity, on into the future.

Some of the earliest events in the time line include things that many of us take for granted today. The fact of the matter is, if inventions such as agriculture, metal working and maps were never thought of, where would we be today? There is a little question as to when these things actually occurred but it is obvious that some of the more important developments, such as agriculture must have taken place at the very dawn of civilization.

Some of the main cultures that influenced history also had a large influence on the time line of inventions. For example, the ancient Egyptians had many inventions that were credited to their name. They were the first to have organized labor and there is no doubt that they used this in order to build the pyramids that we still see in existence today. They are also responsible for the development of black ink, paper and a calendar which had 365 days.

The Greeks were also individuals out of history that had a profound influence, both on the time in which they existed but on all future generations as well. Any timeline of inventions would have to include them or else they would not be doing the reader any justice. The Greeks were the first to come up with the concept of using coins for money. They were also responsible for one of the world's first tumbler locks and had working thermometers, some 2000 years ago.

Rome also influenced us in many areas and some of their ideas were far ahead of their time. They fit in history right after the Greeks as they were the next major world power to come onto the scene. They developed a type of cement that uses the same formula, or at least one similar to the modern day Portland cement. They were also responsible for the first domed buildings and developed the arch as a form of architecture.

Bringing in a little bit closer to our time, the Industrial Revolution really sparked a lot of creations as well. Henry Ford was responsible for developing the assembly line, a principle that had not been thought of before but is still used, even today. Many of the machines that were developed during that time gave way to the machines that we still see around us. The gasoline engine, the use of electricity as a form of power and the telephone, just to name a few.

It is difficult to tell where the time line of inventions is going to take us. There's no doubt, however, that we will still see new things coming onto the scene, even in our lifetime.
